you can't call up john harper collins and say here's my book i want some of that money. publishers don't select the manuscript. the literary agents are notoriously famously liberal, which is fine, but if you have your lieberman here, maybe starbucks, which is no problem but we had more than 100 agents, and you would think that it would be easy to get people to take 15% of your potential earnings. but it wasn't. one called me to tell me that he hoped my teeth fell out and another said that it was because of people like us that americans are up to our years in the blood of our children to read it was vicious. i don't mind being passed on, but i mind being scolded. eventually we found a fantastic agent and he sold a book to simon and schuster threshold in print and a couple of weeks and now a great launch party in new york we even got on to page six without having to go to rehab, and we got to do really fun stuff like this for my personal favorite guilty pleasure, c-span's book tv. i would like to invite him to come up and speak as well if any small victories have come out

what is so everyman about john kerry or rockefeller? , because these people i am sure you are aware, voters do not ask, do i like you? they ask, are you like me? are you like me? do we have anything in common? what is our connect tissue: should mark -- connective tissue? there is always one. people raise children every day. ross perot was worth four times the amount of money that mitt romney is, and he got a lot of people to believe he was a populist. he was for the middle class. we have to have equal who have an everyman and everyone's story to which people can't relate. it is incredibly important. >> one thing -- we cannot over emphasize the top down mentality that you talked about. the most successful part of the conservative movement in the last two years has and what? tea party. did that start in washington? no. it was because of washington. but the fact is, that came from a conservative grassroots. a lot of people talk about the sophistication of the left for voter turnout. they were more sophisticated even at the digital level. b

and he touches john's heart and then he moves away towards the city hall of john's memory and john set the stairs in the way that george did, cocky and sexy, cruel as all get out. and then the song ends. and i notice the woman sitting next to me crying. and after the play is over, after the standing ovation of tony's brave and beautiful play, as people start to leave the theater, this woman, she remains in her chair and it seems she cannot move. i gently asked her if she's all right. and she nods. and she says without looking at me because she couldn't look at me, "i got to see my mayor again." so, maybe through art we can see again. about a month ago i braved going to the sf moment to check out the infamous bust of my dad and all i could remember growing up were the images of that controversial pedestal of gunshots and twinkies and don't think i didn't smile when i heard hostess went under. [laughter] (applause) but when i went to see the bust for that first time, a bust that i have to admit captured george's mile wide grin and dramatically imperfect teeth, i saw on the pedestal so ma
